Animal Anatomy & Physiology 1
Introduces the student to the structure and function of the bodies of domestic animals with emphasis on the skeletal, muscular, nervous, integumentary, endocrine, and sensory systems. Medical terminology will be studied throughout the course. Homeostasis will be discussed including the role of control systems such as negative feedback and the relation of form to function. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Veterinary Technology program. Corequisites: VET 102, VET 114, and BIOLB3.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify the parts of each of the body systems studied on models, diagrams, or tissue samples.
2. Describe the functions of each individual organ.
3. Describe the function of each body system related to feedback or other mechanisms to maintain organism homeostasis.
4. Explain how body systems interact with each other.
5. Describe selected pathologies for each body system.
6. Identify the histology of tissues and organs within each system.
7. Describe the correlation of organ tissue and histology to system function.
