Fundamentals of Business Computing

This course thoroughly introduces key computer technologies and applications used in business. It focuses on foundational tech knowledge, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel skills. Students will learn about Internet technologies, operating systems, and software and gain hands-on experience in creating documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.

Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Acquire foundational knowledge in Internet technologies, operating systems, input/output devices, software installation, database understanding, data storage concepts, and productivity apps.
2. Apply ethical principles to data analysis and reporting, including data privacy, accuracy, and transparency.
3. Analyze and interpret financial data using Excel spreadsheet software to inform business decisions.
4. Manage worksheets and workbooks in Excel, including formatting, organizing, and navigating large data sets.
5. Perform operations by using formulas and functions in Excel, including basic arithmetic, statistical, and financial functions.
6. Manage charts in Excel, including creating, modifying, and formatting charts to visually represent data.
7. Create and modify various document types in Microsoft Word, such as flyers, research papers, and business letters, using advanced features like collaboration, charts, and macros.
8. Create and enhance presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, including working with pictures, shapes, charts, tables, and multimedia elements.
9. Acquire an introductory knowledge of Microsoft Access, focusing on creating and managing databases and understanding database objects.
