Technical Writing
Examines the special rhetoric of technical communication. Focuses on the fusion of process and product in the organizing of usable information. Considers audience and user needs, information design, visual forms, engaging in description and definition, creating process explanations, developing proposals, organizing reports, and writing instructions. Develops critical thinking skills through analysis of conventions applied in document design. Use of computers required. Prerequisite: ENG101

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Develop and format informative reports, incorporating research and evidence.
2. Develop and format investigative reports, incorporating research and evidence.
3. Employ a variety of technical writing conventions for fields such as business, natural science, criminal justice, and computer science.
4. Employ document usability rubrics to evaluate preexisting and student-designed technical documents based on substance, bias, and intended effect.
5. Compose a variety of technical documents, addressing the requirements of varying professions, which inform, persuade, or otherwise engage with diverse audiences.
6. Revise student-designed technical documents.
